Project Background

The Phase I Study is intended to explore engineering options to improve safety and to accommodate existing and projected year 2050 travel demands along Illinois Route 62 between Illinois Route 25 and Illinois Route 68. The proposed scope of work will be determined through the evaluation of identified issues and the public involvement process. Within the project study area, existing Illinois Route 62 has a two-lane rural cross section. Due to other roadway improvements at the east and west project limits, Illinois Route 62 widens to a four-lane cross section with exclusive turn lanes at its intersections with Illinois Route 25 and Illinois Route 68.

A recently completed development within the project study area is the Longmeadow Parkway. The roadway is a new east-west roadway over the Fox River that connects to Illinois Route 62 at the existing Autumn Trail. The intersection of Longmeadow Parkway and Illinois Route 62 is currently signalized.
