Welcome to the Illinois Route 62 Phase I Study
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is currently engaged in preliminary engineering and environmental studies (Phase I) to improve Illinois Route 62 (Algonquin Road) from Illinois Route 25 to Illinois Route 68. The project is located in the Village of Barrington Hills in Cook and Kane Counties. Other nearby communities that have the potential to be affected by this improvement are the Villages of Algonquin, Carpentersville, and South Barrington and Kane and Cook Counties. The purpose of the study is to evaluate alternatives to address safety concerns and accommodate existing and projected year 2050 travel demands. This improvement is not currently included in the Department’s FY 2019-2024 Proposed Highway Improvement Program, however it will be included for future funding consideration.
This website has been created to provide two-way communication between the public and the project team. Educational information, materials, and updates about the Illinois Route 62 Phase I study will be posted here. You can provide comments through the website, which will be reviewed and considered by the project team. The goal is to provide the public with the opportunity to express their needs and concerns regarding the project and to keep them informed about the project development process.
